IMPORTANT SAMPLING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Samples can be taken from the individual sick or several sick birds.
2. Samples can be taken from any healthy looking bird or birds in the loft.
Fecon Pots
The interior of these pots is sterile.
1. Hold the lid and use the plastic spoon to collect your samples.
Ideally, collect at least half of each dropping up to a total of 12 droppings.
2. If it is only one bird then you can select all of the dropping.
3. Replace the lid tightly.
4. Wash your hands.
Return the sample to the practice as quickly as possible.
IMPORTANT POSTAGE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Please contact the Practice before sending the samples for a unique reference number
and to discuss the test required.
2. Samples should be sent to the Practice at the address on the submission form.
3. All samples must be clearly labelled with date and origin of sample
4. All samples should be securely packaged, preferably using a padded envelope or "Jiffy bag".
The words "PATHOLOGICAL SPECIMEN FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE" must be put on the outside of
the parcel, with your name and address. Please do not use staples to seal the package.
5. Please arrange for the samples to arrive at the Practice by WEDNESDAY if at all possible
and within 24 hours of being taken.
6. No responsibility can be accepted for samples that arrive unsuitable for testing. i.e. poorly
labelled, damaged, or more that 24 hours old.
7. Send this submission form with your samples - but please remember to place it inside a separate
plastic bag to prevent soiling in case of sample leakage during transit.
